David Miller Architects
The front-end for the site is a simple timeline of the practice's projects through to the present day. The projects are always in view (dependent on the screen resolution), but only a period of time is stretched out an in focus at any one time. It is navigated simply by moving the mouse left and right, up and down; the area of time that is in focus bulges as the mouse moves. The site went live in 2006.

A simple clear graphical style is used to display the practice's projects.

The project view blurs the menu into the background, keeping it in view at all times without distracting from the information.

By building the site purely through code and not using pre-built graphics and the Flash animation timeline, file sizes were able to be kept to a minimum.
The initial idea was to show a broad range of the projects he had been involved with, including those at other practices and collaborations with other architects. Before setting up his own practice, David worked for and with several world-famous architecture practices, including Santiago Calatrava and Future Systems where he was Associate Director and project architect for the Stirling Prize winning NatWest Media Centre at Lords. We came up with the idea of a timeline to show his design history and experience and how it is developing with David Miller Architects, and, preferring the animated nature of some initial mock-ups, the site was built in Flash 8.
